NORTH LANE REFUND CARD

I received a refund for overpayment via the North Lane card, which I believe is just a HUGE SCAM. It WILL NOT let me activate the card online, it WILL NOT let me register the card online and there is NO phone number out there to be able to TALK WITH SOMEONE about this! This is a huge SCAM and they are taking everyone's unaccessed refunds!
HOW DO I GET MY MONEY?!?!?!?!?!?

Hello Community,

We wanted to jump in to summarize and provide some guidance.

If it has been more than 20 working days and you haven't received your refund, or are having other refund issues with your North Lane refund card, please contact the refund processor customer service at 877.871.1267 or help@northlane.com.

At this time, we do not have any additional information and suggest contacting the processor directly.

Thanks

Yes, if I remember my reading of all the small print: until you activate it, you have a bunch of protections, including the ability to get it reissued for free if it expires.  So you can do that once, but then you'll have activated it and you can't do that again.  But still, IIRC, the service fee doesn't apply until expiration.  Once it's expired [again], you can still get it reissued (for a fee), and you'll be paying the monthly service charge.

For less than $2.00, just transfer the card to an online gift card balance or something (like Amazon... if Amazon will do a transaction that small) and be done with it.

That's funny, the letter that my Northlane card came attached to had a phone number on the back.  It is 877-200-8555.

I'm having the same issue.  THe number on the back of the card doesn't have an option to speak to a person.  I finally got my card registered, but couldn't use the transfer function on the website.   I believe this is nothing more than a way for AT&T to keep your money!

My sister-in-law is having a similar problem in Wisconsin involving the TDS Telecom/North Lane affiliation. TDS Telecom hires North Lane to take care of their refunds to TDS customers. On 3/2/2022, I requested a refund check be sent to my sister-in-law for the amount due her. TDS first said it would take 5-7 business days. Today is 4/12/22 and my sister-in-law has still not received her money. On 4/11/22, my sister-in-law called North Lane and, after being on hold for over 30 minutes, she was told she would receive her check in 20 days. That means almost two months of delay in getting her refund from TDS Telecom/North Lane.

I'd say the issue here is that the TDS rep accepted the request for a check when they knew (or at least should have known) that it had to go through North Lane.

The issue is that TDS Telecom and North Lane are playing a float game with TDS customers money. TDS hires North Lane to pay refunds and provides North Lane funds to pay refunds. North Lane tries to get people to accept refund in form of prepaid card. Then makes it difficult for customers to activate or use card. If check is requested, North Lane delays. Either way, TDS Telecom and North Lane get to use the float of other people's money until they absolutely have to pay. I am sure some customers just give up. Are customers of ATT are experiencing the same shady business practice?

I think that the business that uses North Lane's services "buy" the rebate card for some fraction of the assigned value under the understanding that the customer to whom the rebate card is sent can get the funds by using the card or requesting a check.  Both parties in that transaction know that the redemption rate will not be 100%, and the charge for the rebate card to the company will be less than the "face value."  The buyer's cost of refunds is reduced by North Lane accepting a risk of full value redemption.  North Lane makes money on "the float" and the value of cards not redeemed.

Total scam! My refund is a whopping $1.83. I'm sure it cost more to put it on this useless Mastercard and mail it to me than it would have been to just cut a check. Once you activate the card, you are on the hook for a $3.00/month service charge. It's not worth my time or the hassle to get the miniscule refund due, so they'll get to keep my money. A few dollars here and a few more there...imagine how much money AT&T must make every time a customer cancels an account with a credit balance. Just one more way for AT&T to rip off its customers. I also could not activate or register my card online. Not wasting my time calling these unscrupulous people just to be put on hold and then get the runaround for money I'm owed!

Once you activate the card, you are on the hook for a $3.00/month service charge.

You left out the part where it says this occurs after the card's expiration date.
