android file transfer keeps crashing cant open the program on my mac

cant open the app. keeps crashing. it use to work fine. I removed and reinstalled it, same thing. I have a galaxy phone with version 8.1.0 of android on the phone.

how can I fix this, or is there another free program I can use that is safe to use to move files from my mac to the phone? thanks.

fixed it. had to enable developer mode. now it works.
