bluetooth error "an app is needed to connect this device"

I can connect Galaxy S10e to the car with bluetooth, but not to my earbuds.  I had wiped my phone and reinstalled everything. After which, I can only connect my bluetooth to my car, not my ear buds. Why?

I finally figured it out.  It turns out my work phone had paired to the earbuds and that was preventing my personal phone from connecting to the ear buds.  Fixed now.

Maybe your earbuds require an application?  I have several pair of wireless bone conducting earbuds, shokz, oladance, and the app is required for pairing.

They are earbuds from 1MORE. I tried downloading their app and I also tried the SmartThings app. Both required a connection through the bluetooth setting of the phone, which again said: I need an app. What app?

Well they have at least 3 apps, for different ear buds...

Hello @benjeck, we hear you, and let's get the help you require.

If your Galaxy S10e is having trouble connecting to your earbuds, here are some steps you can try:

  1. Check Bluetooth Settings:

  2. Pair Your Earbuds Manually:

    • Open the lid of the charging case for your Galaxy Buds.
    • If you’ve previously connected your earbuds to another device, you’ll need to manually turn on pairing mode.
    • To do this, place the earbuds in your ears and press both touch panels for 10 seconds. Wait for continuous beeps2.
  3. Troubleshooting with Samsung Community:

    • If the above steps don’t work, you can seek further assistance on the Samsung Community.
    • Some users have reported similar issues, and Samsung representatives have provided solutions there.
    • You can also send a private message to a moderator with the model code and serial number of your earbuds

Let us know if the above information helps!
