($Get my device unlocked) Scam AT&T

On AT&T website in my account;  it said that my phone was paid off.  So I proceeded to transferred my phone number to Mint Mobile because thier offer was 1/4 of what At&t was offering me.

Then my phone was locked......I had to walk in to At&t store to find out that my phone had a remaining balance of $50.

Which I promptly paid.

Two weeks later, and numerous visits to At&t agents, and 20 min wait times at Customer Service.

No one knew how to help me unlock my New Phone!

My options were to try and regain my phone number back with At&T and see and wait if my phone number would be resumed.

Or, buy a new phone and continue to try and new cellular provider.  Im buying a new  phone from Tmobile, thank you very much.

The ONLY way to unlock your phone is through the unlock portal - www.att.com/deviceunlock

Since you have left AT&T, when it asks if AT&T account, say no.

And, how were you "scammed"?  You paid for the phone and the service, so I'd say you got your money's worth.

As mentioned above, use the portal, and use the IMEI instead of account phone number since that doesn't exist anymore.

Also, be sure your account itself is at least up to date on payments. Not the phone, but the actual service. As soon as any balance goes late, the phone can't be unlocked.

Your final month’s bill is not prorated and has to be paid prior to AT&T unlocking the phone since you terminated/transferred service.

@RebeccaGraves

What scam? If phone is paid off then just go to the unlock portal. You do that yourself, not over the phone or in a store.

https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/

If your account is already canceled, then you go through the process without a phone number.

Thank you all for the follow-up advice for my locked At@t Motorola stylus G.

Six weeks later  I've had the time to try the www.att.com/deviceunlock link yet again.

The reason why  I called it a scam; is because the first time I tried it, it asked to confirm my identity with a text to my phone number. ?

And I thought the added request for $26 for something that could take up to a month;  deliver was somehow unscrupulous. (scam)

I guess it didn't help that I was already upset too.

Since then, I have used the att unlock site again.  I have carefully typed in the IMEI#  and phone number a few more times.

The last time there was an error with the transaction.

I will try what one person suggested about the carrier, to try input N(no) for AT@T carrier. And or,  I might bring the phone in to our tech store in town.

The store is called Just In Case.

The Store is called (Just In Case.). Thank you al

The unlock doesn't have a $26 charge. So sounds like you weren't on the official process and instead likely on a scam site.

🤦🏼‍♀️

You were given the link to unlock your AT&T phone and instructions.

I don't know why you would be paying a third-party site for something that they are going to get for free by using AT&T's free unlock website
