HTC one M8 getting error messages from Anonymous "Message Not Found"

I have disassoicated my number from Apple since switching from an iPhone to this phone (have had it for 3 months now). At least three times a week, messages are not coming through – it shows up as a file with a download button, when I tap on download, it wont download the message, and then I get up to 20 or more messages from Anonymous saying "Message not found". I've tried restarting the phone, deleting the text chain, and the problem still persists to happen. I don't know what other things I can do to stop this. It's very frustrating and super annoying to have to restart my phone multiple times a day. Not sure if I regret switching yet...

How did you remove your number from Apple servers?

This doesn't sound like an iMessage problem. It seems like your SIM card is faulty or hasn't been provisioned correctly. Has anyone suggested resetting network settings? (This will require signing in to wifi again). Next step is taking it in to AT&T store for SIM card and proper settings.

Hi there @thrax50

I’d be happy to help with this messaging issue! This sounds like messages are attempting to be sent to your device via MMS but are failing. Do you have mobile data enabled on your device? Are you currently part of any group messages? Please try powering your device completely off for 5 minutes and back on to clear the connection to the tower and let us know if the issue persists!

Thanks,

Charise

I have been having this very frustrating issue with my texts also. I have called ATT support with no help, visited to ATT device assistance store who had said to clear out all my old cache of messeges, but this didn't work.
It seems to be group texts that are malfunctioning as some get thru but others are lost with the Anonymous "Message Not Found" text. This all seems to have happened after the latest update back in February. Someone please post a solution to this. As much as we pay for these services, its really just unacceptable

Absolute same issue. Very frustrating. Since the update to 4.4.whatever (before Lollipop) on my HTC One (M8) I get anaonymous messages and failure to download group MMS messages. I have reset, cleared the cache, changed network settings. It is intermittent and very hard to figure out a pattern.

I am getting the same annoying "message not found" from anonymous. They come in groups of 4 or 5. I have tried messages, textra, and hangouts. Cleared my cache, restarted my phone, rebooted my phone... About to give up on the HTC, but can't afford to pay to switch.
