KitKat Update

Hello,

Does anybody know if AT&T still plans to update the SM-G730A (S3 Mini) to Android KitKat?

This article from February mentioned it was on the list.

Thank you.

The Note 8 was on that list as well. It would seem that we are all but forgotton.

Nobody seems to know anything.

I talked to AT&T Tech Support earlier and they told me to contact Samsung. Have yet to get a response to my email from Samsung. I will be really suprised if I ever do LOL.

Had I known Androind would be this complicated when it came to updates I probably would have stayed with (DARE I TYPE THIS OUTLOUD?) Apple.

This is what Samsung told me just now in their online chat:

"As of now there is no update available for the device.

We are unable to speculate when/if this software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion. Should this become available, it will be posted on our website in the Samsung Download Center or you will be informed by your service provider. Please feel free to check with us periodically for updates."

Yeah, I have gotten that response in the past from their online people.

That is a "Stock" answer anytime they don't have an answer.

I'm not 100% sure if they will roll out the update for the mini or not. I know the plans for the international phones have been scrapped.

I'd like to know this myself, as my wife has the mini. I just got the Kit Kat update for the full SG3 a couple days ago.

Interesting. Well the international S3 Mini (i8910) happens to have less powerful hardware than the AT&T S3 Mini (SM-G730A), so I can understand that, I suppose... but I would think the G730A should be eligible for sure.

I found this browsing for an answer myself. Surpisingly my phone still claims it's "up to date" with ICS

Wow, that is very interesting. I'm pretty sure I've looked at that page in the past and it said Jelly Bean. I hope that is a sign of an update to come.

Your S3 Mini is on ICS?

yep. and because all of the new app updates are optimised for kitkat, it's causing some serious instability.
