Latest LG G4 update causing frequent "Unfortunately, Email has stopped" message.

Both my wife and I updated our G4's with the latest updated yesterday (8/4/2016) and now we are getting "Unfortunately, Email has stopped."  This happens randomly and often, no matter what we are using on the phone.  VERY FRUSTRATING.  Neither of us even use the stock email app.  I've tried force stopping the Email app, clearing data, clearing cache and nothing works.  I've read where others have tried the factory reset but that does not help either because once all the app/system software update back to the latest versions, the problem starts again.  Please look into this issue, it is a major disruption of the the user experience for this phone.

Hi there @u18a12!

Sorry for the trouble you’ve experienced with your email application! I know how frustrating it is to deal with a system error pop-up frequently!

We’ve received many reports of this issue lately, and are working on investigating it further!

At the moment, the best troubleshooting option left open for you, is indeed, the master reset. Be sure to back up your phone information to your PC or to a cloud service if you attempt this, as it will clear your phone of all saved data!

Thanks for reaching out! Have a great day, and thanks for joining the Community!

I just purchased a new LG G4 last week and am getting the error "unfortunately, email has stopped working" anytime I attempt to compose a new email, reply to an email, Forward an email, or build a custom signature. Really frustrating.

I am experiencing the same issue.  I had to get a new LG G4, as mine had failed and was covered under warranty.  Upon setting up new one got multiple updates;  and since then cannot compose/reply to any emails.

    Has there been any resolution?

Same issue here and nothing works to resolve it. On Aug 6, AT&T reported it had many reports of same issue but has there been any progress?

Hello @spyderphil!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still having this issue.

We took a look at the most current information, and found no new information on this particular error.

My apologies for that, the current fixes suggested are:

  1. Clear cached and data for the Email application.
  2. Force Stopping the application and restarting the phone.
  3. Clearing the phone cache in Settings > General > Storage & USB, Internal Storage > Cached data.
  4. Backup and Factory Reset.

If this list appears incomplete to anyone, feel free to let us know, we want to have the best possible information available.

If possible, you might try getting your G4’s software flashed as well. We have Device Service Centers across the country that can do this for no charge, however, an authorized third party service may be a better solution for your area.

Let us know if you would like any clarification on any of those above steps. We want to help out however we can!

I hope you have an excellent day!

I am REALLY unhappy about this error with native email.  Mine started after a recent update.  It is interfering with sending texts because of the contacts link.  Resetting is a major pain for me because I then have to set up my corporate email again and that is no small feat.  Thanks a lot, AT&T, for letting a crappy update go through.  You guys are so slow with updates already, then it's continually one issue or another.

Hello, @4DoggieMom!

I’m so sorry this update is causing issues with your device. I can understand how not being able to use your e-mail properly can be frustrating; let’s get this resolved for you!

The Software Update is not issued by AT&T, but from the manufacturer directly. I do apologize, the Factory Reset is the best option to correct an issue stemming from a Software Update. You can see how to accomplish this, by visiting our Device Support page, and selecting the correct make/model of your phone.

Please let us know if the factory reset gets this resolved for you!
