Recent ATT Update Broke My Phone! I Don't Know What to Do!

This past week, ATT released a software update on my Galaxy Note 4. I kept postponing the update until it forced it on my phone. For the past few days my phone has been restarting randomly despite being at a high charge of 95%.

* I installed a virus scanning and prevention software on my phone. No results of virus..

* Replaced the Battery. Again nothing changed. Still resetting and freezing at random.

* Performed Factory Reset and tested with no apps. Still Reset.

*Took it in to Corpus Christi Retailer. The guy said the recent update messed up his Galaxy Note 5 as well. He offered to optimize my phone's battery and performance using their tablet thing. Still messed up and reset at random.

I have done everything I can but now my phone cannot charge despite changing the battery out and refuses to turn on after resetting at 80% earlier today. I currently have no phone and the man at ATT said "wait until the Note 8 comes out." Gee thanks for the help. Way to force an upgrade on a customer.

Is there anything I can do? I need help.

Hello @funterbrink!

I regret to hear the software update is not functioning properly on your Galaxy Note 4. Especially on a device you use every day. I’d feel the exact same way you are.  I am happy to share some troubleshooting steps with you.

Because you have already done a factory reset, I would like to suggest performing this in recovery mode. In doing this step, it will eliminate any update related issues which could be causing this problem. Here are the steps to complete this.

To start up device in recovery mode:

  • Turn off the phone
  •  Press and hold Power+Volume Up+Volume Down buttons.
  •  Keep holding until you see a menu with Recovery mode option.
  • Navigate to Recovery mode option and press Power button.

If you are still having issues, you can also use our Trouble Shoot and Resolve Tool to guide you in step by step trouble shooting. I hope this information is of help. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
