S5 constantly getting 'Check Battery Cover' message after 4.4.4 update

Ever since I was updated to 4.4.4 everytime I unlock my phone to use it after being idle for about 5 minutes I get the 'Check Battery Cover' pop-up message. I use to only get this message after I restarted my phone, but now I get it everytime.

Anyone else having this issue? Any way to turn this off? Extremely annoying.

Hello! @AAPLA1 Thanks for posting your concerns.

Sorry to hear you are getting the message to check the battery cover. I would recommend pulling the back and battery while the phone is on. Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then place the battery in and ensure the back cover is on correctly.

Hope this helps!

I followed your instructions exactly, but unfortunately it has not resolved the problem. I am still getting the ‘Check Battery Cover’ message when unlocking my phone.

Can confirm. The same is happening to me and started after the update. I am using the Samsung S-view wireless charging caseplate. Checked and re-checked it, even cleaned the contacts and still get the message after phone has been idle for a few minutes. Extremely annoying.

Although I'm not using the S-view version I do have the Samsung wireless charing caseplate. Wonder if it has something to do with that? Although I assumed the message was just a simple reminder and not that the phone had sensors to detect if the caseplate was loose or not. Either way I agree this has been extremely annoying. Does it almost everytime I unlock my phone.

AT&T, any updates on this issue?

I do not have the charging back plate, but I do have the Sview cover and I can confirm this is happening immediately following the 4.4.4 update. I have tried the advice above without success. Thankfully I'm within all grace periods on my phone and contract, so unless there is a timely response from AT&T, I will be gladly returning the phone and cancelling the plan.

Same problem here. I'm also using the wireless charging cover. 😞

It turns out to be a sdcard issue for Samsung s5 and other galaxy phones. So please try the following steps and see the problem is solved: (1) turn off your phone (2) remove the back cover (3) pull off the sdcard from the slot (4) put back cover on and make sure it well sealed (5) turn on your phone. At this point, if the battery cover message only shows once as expected at booting up, it means your sdcard is malfunctioning, and you need buy a new one. Good luck.

I am not using an SD card, so unfortunately that fix/issue doesn't apply to me.
