Same old issue year after year...slow speed on mobile data.

The problem continues in my house.  The data speed test from ATT shows it at less than 2g level not the 4G Lte I am paying for.  Has been this way since day one.  Should I ask for some sort of refund?  My two device bill is over $80 per month.  Has anyone had the same problem, switched to another Cell company and solved the problem?  I have been told by ATT over many times the problem was fixed but it was not.  What kind of foolish deception is that?  Either it works or it does not.  It has not since I joined the Smart Phone league and here we are waiting for 5G that I don't believe will come here in my lifetime and I'm betting the rates on that will be shockingly high.

So why are you still a customer? No carrier guarantees coverage or download speeds at any specific location, especially inside your house. If ATT is not providing the service you need where you need it, then you should find a carrier that does. Also, you aren’t paying for any specific data speed. You won’t be getting any refunds.

Has been this way since day one.   You had 14 days to return phones and go back to a carrier that suited your needs.  Why didn’t you?

Should I ask for some sort of refund?   ⬆️  You had 14 days to get a “refund”.  You stayed.  You don’t get a refund when you agreed to service by staying.

My two device bill is over $80 per month.  Has anyone had the same problem, switched to another Cell company and solved the problem?    I’m sure plenty have.

I have been told by ATT over many times the problem was fixed but it was not.  What kind of foolish deception is that?  Either it works or it does not.   Yeah, so why didn’t you switch?

It has not since I joined the Smart Phone league and here we are waiting for 5G that I don't believe will come here in my lifetime and I'm betting the rates on that will be shockingly high.   5G is not going to add service in areas where there is none.

I did not switch in the beginning of this service because I did not attempt to use it till after the 14 days. I have few choices here and they do not include features I may use if I am in a true 4G area with ATT so I still do not switch. I fell for the claims that ATT made that the situation would be fixed as I have been told over and over. Phone says 4Glte signal yet has less than 2G speed. There is something fundamentally wrong with that. The refund idea came from a tech site that suggested making a record of screen shots of speed tests to make a case about not getting the service promised.

This area is not hilly but obviously needs either more energy to the towers or more towers. Why would ATT allow a tech on chat boost my signal allowing all services to work for a few hours then it goes back to a slow speed. That proves I can get the fast signal in my house yet someone on the turn it up button is keeping it from happening for whatever the reason I will never know.

The crazy all the sudden have high speed mobile data for an hour or maybe even a day has happened several times then right back super slow. Maybe you have some advice on that phenomena. Like Elmer Fudd, I want to say, “Something scwooey goin on around here.

Yes I pay for a service I do not get, yet maps, techs, etc. say I should. I am not alone but more vocal here than most maybe.

I fell for the claims that ATT made that the situation would be fixed as I have been told over and over. Phone says 4Glte signal yet has less than 2G speed.   Again, one has nothing to do with the other.   Speed is a function of tower output, which can be effected by congestion.  Reception is a function of distance from towers and terrain, trees and hills block signal.
There is something fundamentally wrong with that. The refund idea came from a tech site that suggested making a record of screen shots of speed tests to make a case about not getting the service promised.  Irrelevant.  If service doesn’t work, it’s 100% on us customers to change carriers. By staying, you agreed to pay the rate you did, and do not qualify for a refund.  Pay off your phones and either unlock them for another carrier, or sell them to Mae up the cash - then switch to another carrier that works.

Changing services is not an option at this time for personal reasons.

That’s up to you.  But if you don’t switch, for whatever reasons, you can’t complain.  It’s a self inflicted wound.

If you keep paying for service you aren’t happy with, it’s not at&t’s Fault, they’re happpy to take your money.

Yes I can complain in hopes that ATT will someday get the message and do something about this situation. I also can get replies from someone who runs over the same information as I do. I am fully aware of my extremely few options and to switch is not one of them at this time so I chime in occasionally in hopes someone with care about the problem who is with ATT. Please understand my service works fine away from home and I want it to continue because it gives me what no other service can other places I visit but at home it is dead so I must pay extra for another service to get all the telecommunications I want. That may change soon and I will drop at something, until then I will keep reminding ATT that they do not deliver what they claim to…high speed mobile data at my home location unless they crank up the power on it which they have done several times then throttle it back down. It is crazy as to why they would even bother to give me a half a day of 4G then sink it low again and with each call to them tell them they WILL fix this then fail to do so. Until it is fixed or I drop it I will complain and I guess I will get replies too from someone who does not seem to understand the situation.

But they aren’t required to.  And if they aren’t serving enough people, they aren’t going to keep it up for just you.

Are you using wifi calling?  Or consider putting in a cellular booster?   Cell booster just need electricity to amplify signal.  It may not increase data speed, but calls will work.

As I have explained I have little problem with calls it is the data speed that is the continuous problem Yes, I know of both of those options as I have all you have mentioned. Wifi is not needed and a booster can’t boost what is not there…signal speed. It is ridiculously slow…that’s it and there are reasons for that, not some bad luck thing. ATT knows it and ATT can fix it, but at the moment they are not willing to invest the $ to fix it. Had this similar thing happen with another company years ago. It took them two years to fix the situation. ATT does not seem to care as long as calls can be made from most locations in this area….the heck with data speed…and if they did ramp up power for data, it could draw down on calls causing drops etc. so…yes it is a problem here while not far from here there is no problem.

Sounds like Wifi is needed.
