SMS BANK

My son is disabled and has a tracking device that sends me texts to alert me when bus is on  the move. I got this message today, but have no clue what it means:

Your monthly SMS bank is running low. You will only be able to receive 5 more SMS.

What plan do you have?  SMS are text messages.  The message suggests that you have a plan that has a limited amount of texts and you are approaching the limit.

Did this message come from a number that you've received legitimate texts from before?  The text could just be the start of a fishing expedition to phish you for information.

I agree with @JefferMC

If you have unlimited everything, then it's likely not legitimate.

Can you post a copy of the whole message you got? Does it actually start with "AT&T Msg"?  Not that it really means anything, a scammer could put that in there, but if it's scattershot type of message, they usually won't even put in who it's from.

Is there a link in the message?  Just don't tap it if there is.

I suggest checking your account separately online just to make sure everything is as it should be.
