Unlocked HTC one M8 cannot send MMS using different GSM carrier

Hi, I have an unlocked HTC one M8 but can't seem to send or receive mms. I have contacted HTC and they have referred me back to AT&T, saying that they have to unlock the mms function on this phone. I have the correct APN settings up on this phone. I have not been able to reach an AT&T CSR on the phone that understands what I'm trying to ask.

Can you use mobile data at all?
Which carrier are you using now?
How long since you unlocked the phone?
( I agree the problem has to be resolved with AT&T)

I have T-Mobile right now. Everything else works fine on the phone except sending and receiving pictures.

I googled it for you... The APN setting may be incorrect, which makes sense if you switched carriers. Has this been checked out with T-Mobile? They should know the correct settings for the network.

I don't think so, because I called them and verified that. I also googled everything. 😞 This is such a bummer. I don't want to switch phone carriers right now either. I was thinking about switching to Cricket just to see how it is but, I don't think they use the same APN as AT&T so that won't work either. I'd have to switch or flash this phone.

There has to be a decent solution. Don't give up. Sorry I couldn't help.

this is the problem when you take a carrier branded phone to another carrier.  If you switch to cricket they have there own apn but it shows up in my nexus 6 and is on att's network

Yeah I've figured. I have been using unlocked phones from a different
carrier for years and this is the first time I came across this. I figured
it would have been fine. Just a pretty paperweight. Lol

There is no such thing as "unlocking the MMS function" if the SIM is already unlocked.  If data works, and MMS doesn't it usually an issue with the APN.

Make sure your carrier doesn't not have multiple APNs.  AT&T for instance has like 4 different APNs.  You need to be sure the APN you are using is the same as your account is provisioned for.

Also, double and triple check the APN settings are entered correctly down to every single character.  A single typo or added space can screw up the whole thing.  I was driving myself crazy one time, thinking I had some radio or network issue.  When all it was, is that I had one single character wrong when I manually entered the APN settings.
