Device Unlock error: "Your data cannot be validated by the system."

I am trying to unlock my old iPhone, but I don't have an account with AT&T anymore. I bought the iPhone in December 2013 on a 2 year contract, but than I cancelled my personal contract (and paid the remainder) in June 2014 when I switched to AT&T business account through my work. I didn't have to unlock my phone since I was still using AT&T, but now that I bought a new version I am trying to unlock the old iPhone so I can sell it for more. The problem is that when I enter the IMEI and fill out the rest of it on this page I get an error back saying that "Your data cannot be validated by the system."

How can I get pass this error?

Hey @mzgaga!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having such trouble with getting that phone unlocked! No worries, I can definitely help you out with getting that request submitted!

Do you still have an account at all with AT&T? If not, you can submit the unlock request as a non-AT&T customer through the AT&T Device Unlock Portal. The information you’ll need will be limited, enter in the IMEI number along with the email address that you’d like to receive the instructions and any correspondence. The whole unlock process can take up to 48 hours after submitting. The great thing is, you can also keep up with the status if you happen to not check your email often.

Hope this helps, it should get you past the error message! If you have any other questions, you can feel free to contact us through private message. Take care!

Got the same problem:

"Your data cannot be validated by the system" error when trying to go past the second step (entering name and email to get notified).

What phone are you trying to unlock?  Some phones are no longer supported and the IMEI is not in the system.
