My text from two days ago got merged into a text sent today

Hello,

This is the first time happening to my wife and I but I figured I'd ask to see if anyone knows about it.

So, I sent a text message to my wife today and it showed sent and correct on my phone. However, when the text arrived on her phone, she got my new text merged with a text i sent two days ago. She has an iPhone and uses imessage and I have an android.

I've heard that it could be a few things including but not limited to:

"orphaned messages" which I believe are texts never sent or just stored on your phone which then get merged randomly anytime you send a "multitext", meaning a text more than 160 characters so it gets broken into more than one text.

An issue with imessage. Either just imessage or imessage to Android communication

A corrupt Sim card

A carrier issue.

Anyone else go through this and found a solution? I downloaded an app that supposedly deletes orphaned messages but haven't seen if it works or not yet.

First timer here. Been with att for a couple months now. I appreciate if anyone can weigh in.

Thank you!

Hello @aguigli57,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the Community Forums! This is definitely an odd issue, and I would be more than happy to assist you.

If this was an isolated incident and this issue is not repeating, I would recommend not performing these steps. However, if the issue is still ongoing, please try deleting your wife as a contact, and try texting her using her 10 digit phone number. After doing this a few times, re-add her as a contact and text like normal.

You can also have her turn off iMessage temporarily, text back and forth a few times, and see if the issue is duplicated. If the issue comes back when iMessaging is turned on, it will help us identify where the problem lies.

Please let us know the results! We are eager to get this resolved. Have a great day!

This is happening to me as well.  Several times.  It also brought up 26 text messages that had been deleted.  Not sure what's going on.  My phone is and android.
