NO CALLS on iPhone when turning data off AT&T site!?

This isn't going to make any sense but,

When manually turning data off for my iPhone 7+ on the AT&T website to limit overages, the phone loses the ability to make or receive phone calls. Now I work in I.T. and immediately thought this is bull, there should be no reason a phone requires data to function as a dumb phone but there it is. I rebooted it like 5 times and no luck. Doesn't happen on Android. Could it be some dumb iOS bug??

It's a known issues. Newer iPhones USE data for calls actually. Just doesn't count against your cap.

Turn off VOLTE and see if it works.

Well interestingly enough, I don't have those options. I only have in the LTE menu: off or voice only.  IN ANY CASE, it started working all of a sudden without me doing anything. We'll see for how long. Thank you.

Yeah, that's the setting right there. VOLTE is when it's set to Voice and Data. VOLTE off is LTE on Data Only (which means voice doesn't use LTE) and then LTE off completely just turns it off....completely 😄
