Unlocking for international travel
I am going to be traveling to the eu and last time I was there I dident have a locked phone and I used a local sim from the country and I read that some carriers unlock phones temporarily for traveling and I wanted to see if this is true for ATT and how long the process takes

There is no temporary unlock with AT&T. There is only permanent unlock, and the phone has to meet all the eligibility requirements, including being fully paid for.

What would be the point of a company locking a phone if they were just going to unlock it when people needed it unlocked?
I thought once a phone was unlocked by AT&T, it was always unlocked? Or is that something unique to AT&T.
