Very odd iPhone 6 Plus shipping confusion

Question

I ordered a 6 Plus (128, gold) on 11/26 and was given a window of 12/29-1/7 for shipping. A few days ago I received an email from AT&T saying "We appreciate your purchase of the iPhone 6 Plus. Because the color and memory size of the iPhone 6 Plus you purchased is very popular, we have not received the supply needed to fill your order. As a result, your device will now be shipped between December 12, 2014 – December 19, 2014."

So basically what they're telling me is that it's shipping sooner than usual? If i go to check my order status on here, it still shows the 12/29-1/7 date. I'm so confused. Anyone else got this?

AT&T send everyone those dates, regardless of when their phones were ordered, probably something to do with money, new contracts, Christmas, deception or all of the above. Be prepared to wait 3 months like most of us: ordered 9/20, nothing yet except lies and shipping dates that are myths.

At least, you have a range, my boss shipping date is lone gone, and it doesn't even tell you when. Just Backorder, calling the rep did absolutely nothing. Don't understand premier customer rep can't get more info than us ordinary folks.

My buddy who works for AT&T looked up my order and said that it's on track to ship 12/12-12/19 and there should be no problems with that date whatsoever. Of course it's hard to be optimistic about that given all the posts on here and AT&T offering no REAL explanation as to why they're so crappy. If it does not come by January, I'm gonna order it through apple.

You guys are going to love this. So I ordered my 128gb iPhone 6 plus in an AT&T store on 09/19/14. I got a shipping date of 11/09 thru 11/27. On 11/26 I got an email saying they could not ship but my new date was 12/12 thru 12/19. On the site my order changed to backordered. Today, 12/08 my date for shipping went from backordered to my previous date of 11/09 thru 11/27. What the heck does that mean now? For the last, almost 3 months, I kept trying to give AT&T the benefit of the doubt but like many of you I have seen people who ordered the same things much later then me receive their phones already. Unless I get a tracking number by tomorrow or Wednesday morning I am going in to cancel my order and go to the Apple Store. I should have done this 2 months ago. Wish me luck!
