Why would an iPhone need a SIM card replacement twice in the last few months?

A family member's phone has needed to be brought into the AT&T store to replace the SIM card twice in the last few months. What can cause this?

We can share a few things that may cause for a SIM card replacement, @msxcski

A customer is usually required to replace their SIM due to the following reasons:

  • SIM card was lost or misplaced.
  • SIM card has been damaged. (Damage to the SIM card can occur when the device has been dropped.)
  • SIM card is blocked. (PUK or PIN blocked.)
  • SIM card error. (insert SIM or invalid SIM.)
  • SIM card age. (Some SIM cards were phased out due to our most recent network change and we now only support version 27 or higher.)

Wondering how to get a physical SIM card?

  • You can get SIM card kits at one of our stores, online, or from another online retailer. The kits come with three SIM card sizes.
