ATT AIR expanding…

https://about.att.com/blogs/2023/internet-air.html

Over the past year, our team has been hard at work identifying customer pain points, like legacy internet options, and created a solution by utilizing available network capacity in areas that are less densely populated while still providing a strong connection. Thus, AT&T Internet Air was born.

We’ve already rolled out AT&T Internet Air to existing copper-based customers with great success. As we begin to scale, we are hyper-focused on selecting locations with enough wireless coverage and capacity to deliver not only a great in-home experience, but also maintain a top-notch wireless service for our existing mobile users

……..

AT&T Internet Air complements our best-in-class AT&T Fiber, expanding our footprint into new locations including areas of Los Angeles, CA; Philadelphia, PA: Cincinnati, OH; Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix (Prescott), AZ; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Flint-Saginaw-Bay City, MI; Hartford-New Haven, CT; Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle-Tacoma, WA;  and Tampa-St. Petersburg (Sarasota), FL. And more to come!

notice the locations outside of traditional 21 state hardwired footprint including Arizona, Connecticut, Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Washington state.

Becoming FWA provider competing with T-Mobile and Verizon in selected markets.

Yea it showed up as a option on my account about a month ago. Hot Springs, Arkansas. So its def available in more areas than that list since they don't even have anywhere in Arkansas listed on there.

Currently have 100/20 VDSL2. Weird they decided to make it available here since contractors are installing their FTTH service right now but whatever.

Stankey also reiterated that FWA will remain a targeted option for AT&T. The product will continue to be used to "catch" DSL customers as AT&T retires its copper footprint, to retain some of those DSL customers in areas where AT&T is upgrading its copper networks to fiber, and in select markets where mobile penetrations are low and AT&T's wireless spectrum position is high.

"We'll use it as a bridging or hold strategy for those customers that are high value to us," Stankey said.

But Stankey stressed again that AT&T won't use FWA as aggressively as two of its wireless rivals – T-Mobile and Verizon – and that fiber will continue to be where AT&T concentrates its investments.

ATT AIR now has more than 200,000 subscribers with expectation to add average 175,000 per quarter to end 2025.

Result in 7 more quarters by end 2025 should expect ATT fiber subscribers currently 8.5+ million adding 250,000 per quarter to be around 10.3 million subscribers out of 30+ million fiber locations and Fiber to the cell tower (AIR) to be around 1.4 million to 1.5 million subscribers.
