Connect a google mesh to a linksis router?
My linksis router is connected to my AT&T Gateway modem/router. I want to know if I should, and how, connect a google mesh to the linksis router?

What is the purpose of connecting the Linksys router? I want to understand what you hope to gain to help you properly configure it all.

Hi @Henry Arce
We understand you're concern. Let's get the help you need.
We recommend that you connect google mesh Wi-Fi with AT&T gateway by configuring IP Passthrough and DMZplus using these steps:
In order to use Nest Aware in your home, you must first link your Google Account to the ADT app and grant ADT access to manage Google Nest services.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you for contacting AT&T Community & Forums,
Maria, AT&T Community Specialist.

I guessed, perhaps erroneously, that if I connected the Google mesh directly to the Linksys router, which is connected to my AT&T Gateway modem/router, I’d get a better WiFi output. I note that my AT&T Gateway has a copper wire connection; we do not have as of yet fiber optic availability. I’ll try the steps outlined by the AT&T respondent. A note to JefferMC, I hope this response answers your question. Should you wish to offer any additional suggestions, I’d appreciate it very much. Peace y’all!

The basis of my question was really: Why wouldn't you replace the Linksys router with the Google Mesh system? The Google Mesh base is a router probably as good as the Linksys (except it probably has fewer Ethernet ports) and it would be simpler to just to do away with the third wheel. If you don't want to do that for whatever reason, I would suggest that you configure your Google Mesh in Access Point (they might call it "bridge") mode, so that it doesn't try to perform the duties of the router, and just let the Linksys do it; connect the WAN port of the Google Mesh base to a LAN port of the Linksys.
