Unable to connect Samsung S7 phones to Pandora, Netflix, and certain apps while on Uverse 45MB wifi

We recently upgraded to the 45MB Uverse Internet package. Now we cannot connect to Pandora, Netflix, and certain other apps on our Samsung Galaxy S7 phones while the wifi is enabled on the phones. If we turn off wifi, the apps connect as expected using Sprint. The phones work fine on Charter.net wifi and other wifi networks we have access to. When analyzing this problem, it all tracks back to the Uverse 45MB Internet package recently installed.

We have rebooted all AT&T devices including the new Pace gateway several times to fix this, and the problem persists. I have read that AT&T is having DNS issues. Tonight I plan on changed the DNS settings on the gateway to access Google (8.8.8.8) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222) DNS servers and see if that helps.

Are there any other suggestions on why Uverse Internet will not connect on certain apps but work fine on others?

SOLVED: Last night I logged in to our Uverse Gateway and disabled IPv6 as suggested. That solved a couple of problems. It fixed the access issue with Pandora, Netflix, and a few other apps on our phones. It also improved the speed of our Internet access.

Recently we upgraded from 24 to 45Mb Internet speed. I test our Internet speed almost daily and we have never gotten up to the speed we pay for. Now we get speeds from 25Mb to 38Mb, which is an improvement.

You will need to have the Access Code for your gateway to make this change. Your Access Code can be found on the side of your gateway.

While in the gateway configuration I looked for a way to change the DNS server addresses. Evidently DNS is not configurable in the Uverse Gateway.

Now I wonder why AT&T is having DNS problems with IPv6. If AT&T cannot get IPv6 to work correctly, how are the rest of us going to migrate to the new address space?

Thanks again for your help on this issue.

Hello @BeauSanders

Thanks. I will do this tonight and report back on the results. What address do I use to log in to the gateway? I am thinking it is 192.168.0.254.

Thanks. 192.168.1.254 would have been my second guess.  Smiley Happy

Hello @BeauSanders,

IPv6 had been working just fine until recently. And I have been trying to find the responsible group that handles this. As a tech on the physical side of the network, it not always easy to find the appropriate party that handles the exact issue on the virtual side, and some departments require and intermediary to talk to them... But I am actively still looking so that I can get IPv6 fixed. I assume its causing a lot of issues I am seeing on here.
