VDSL2 Upgrades??

I have ATT Internet 25 service with Uverse. It is dependable, but I would for sure like a faster speed.

Is there any truth to the rumor (heard by myself from the ATT rep I was working with on a call a few weeks back) that ATT is looking to upgrade slower connections like mine to faster ones like Internet 50 or Internet 75? The rep said that I would likely be receiving emails on this about mid-April 2024. Either of those options would be a good upgrade (I do not know where my VRAD is, and my current utility services are provided underground). I do have a cell tower supporting 5G service about 1 mile from my location, so is it probable that Internet Air could be an option also? I would welcome that, but various posts that I have been reading indicate that Internet Air is not yet ready for 'prime time'. That a changing public IP address is used for Internet Air provision hints that the service might suffer from interruptions. Can anyone weigh in on this, please? Thanks, and have an awesome day!

Uverse VDSL has not seen any major upgrades since work was completed in 2015.

The service has (3) card types (F, K, N) … can be single or bonded pair and is distance limited.

If your single pair internet 25 with ability to upgrade to internet 50 bonded could be an option.

Have you checked online at the address website to determine if a faster speed is available?

If your currently a bonded pair with best speed of internet 25, the only upgrade path would be fiber… either direct connection (FTTP) of which 50% of Uverse addresses will receive (30+ million out of 60+ million) by end 2025 or fiber to the cell tower aka Internet AIR of which expectation is 25% (15 million) will have that option by 2025.

I am hopeful ATT will announce a 3rd (5) year fiber build out for 2026-2030 or at least 2028 to upgrade all remaining VDSL FTTN addresses to FTTP. At end 2015 there were 33 million addresses FTTN and current FTTP is for 30 million plus a part of that 30 million is all the new construction addresses since 2016 that received fiber service therefore easy to see not all FTTN will be upgraded by 2025 and even fewer ADSL2+ with best speed of 18 or less (24 million end of 2015).
