New Vs. Old

Why is it that you value new customers more than existing customers?  After a terrible 6 hour experience I was told that promotional rates would absolutely not be available as an existing customer, but yet I could cancel then sign up again and get the promotion... Seems crazy.

That's the norm for this industry, I'm afraid. It's a fact that many subscribers just won't go through the hassle of changing services when discounts expire, and the service providers count on that. Hence, more money is spent trying to woo users away from competitors than is spent in trying to keep existing users.
