How do I prevent unknown devices from using my wifi
I know about changing my password ands SSID and all that. I need something that will let me boot unknown devices off the network and ban them, without having to change password/SSID every time. Or better yet tell me why AT&T modems (Pace) seem to be more suseptible to break ins than others! 🙂

MAC Filtering can be used for this purpose.

in order to enable Mac filtering. In theory it says it can be done but the
process yields no results.

Perhaps someone with a 5268AC can help (assuming that's what you have). ATT makes a good effort to keep the RG consoles UI mostly work the same. Nevertheless. the Arris NVG599 I have doesn't tie WPS to MAC Filtering. I do make every effort to leave the RG as close to stock settings as possible in the event I want to factory reset which I do from time to time.
You could also hide your SSID if that worried about security.
I'll also ask how you know your RG is getting hacked. I live in a residential area so I'm hardly qualified to know my RG has many potential attackers, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone "break in" to one of these. The factory supplied passwords are pretty good.

the huge number of peope with the same WPS issue. I go into the routers
page and I see other devices that I do not own chillin. The same issue even
before I changed the default password. But I might try hiding the SSID
after I rename it again. Thanks.

So a thing people do is outright disable WPS for security reasons. The reality is the value of WPS is marginal anyway. Some devices like the ones from Apple don’t even support it.

I love it when a bunch of people answer a problem with answers that I have already stated I have tried with no results. If you have no answer do not answer and waste our time.

I am the only one who tried to offer help, so your comments must have been directed at me. Sorry you feel that way. Good luck.
