Problems Loading Certain Websites

Strange problems: I recently began having difficulty loading select websites, especially Wikipedia and Netflix.  When the problem occurs, the page will try to load and then get stuck almost immediately.  Sometimes I will try twenty times before I can get the page to load.  Here are some details:

o For Netflix, the problem only seems to occur when trying to access the area of the site for browsing streaming content.  I can access the area for DVDs.

o Once I get to a streaming movie and it begins to stream, it is stable.  I can usually watch the entire movie with no buffering problems or glitches.

o The problem occurs in all browsers that I have tried (Safari, Firefox, and Chrome).

o When the problem occurs, I can't access Netflix or Wikipedia.  But I can access a Google search with no problem, as well as most other websites.

o I am using a Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.3

o When I use the same computer at work, I do not experience the problem.  Wikipedia always loads fine (I haven't tested Netflix).

I'd say no to browser problem, hardware, software and your connection. Line speed differences might explain it, time of day site traffic loads are a possible source, too. I've experienced similar problems on my iMac/Mavericks with Chrome and Safari but where we differ is clearing cache and cookies fixed my problem and I only use one connection (home). I used: Safari/Preferences/Cookies/Remove all non-favorites and that seemed to work. If there is a significant line speed advantage at work it is possible that the slowdown caused by cache and cookies at home is overcome by better speed at work but . . .

The more I think about it the more likely I find time of day and traffic loads as the culprit. Why Wikipedia and Netflix? I can't say and I have to say those sites weren't part of my problem. Still those other possibilities, browsers, hardware/software and your connections are pretty much contraindicated by what you describe.

Thank you for this response.  I followed these instructions.  Right now Netflix sees to work.  I will monitor this and report back what I experience.  I appreciate your response.
