Why Is ATT Outsourcing Customer Service to Other Countries and Providing Terrible Support

WHY is ATT outsourcing its customer service to other countries for the US customers. The agents speak very broken English which makes it very difficult to communicate or understand them and read off mechanical scripts that waste time and they do not solve problems in a logical way. I cannot believe how much time I have wasted on the line trying to trouble shoot my problem when I flat out know they are giving me a wrong answer and that their understanding is limited. When I try to ask for a manager I get the run around. This is the worst customer service. Its enough to make me leave ATT when my contract is up.

Because customer support is a cost center and they're trying to get by as cheaply as possible.

ATT is having a hard time hiring installation techs for Uverse and Fiber within 21 state footprint, my garage, one of ten covering southeast Wisconsin, has hired 12 in the past 12 months, (2) failed to complete training and were still in need of 8 additional new hires. That is just one garage, think how many needed throughout 21 state footprint.

Seems all businesses are having difficulty hiring individuals, especially since Covid started in March 2020, I know several individuals job hopping opportunities for an addition .50/ hour instead of learning how to perform and contribute to their current employer.

However there are call center positions available in the United States along with Canada, Mexico, Central and South America in addition to the Asian countries.

What ever the reason for AT&T outsourcing  customer service, being on HOLD & talking to customer service reps for over 5 hours to only have my issue "take one step back" instead of being resolved is ridiculous. I've been a customer for over 30 years, AT&T customer service use to be excellent. Probably time to shop around for alternatives for the amount of money we spend on AT&T each month.

I just had a terrible experience with this. If you want to call AT&T customer service, learn Spanish.

This thread has zero value and is on the verge of being closed.  While we sympathize, nothing to be done about it.
A lot of help can be gotten from the community, so use it.  If service is required, call it in or use the online esupport tools, which are capable of scheduling appointments.

Seems to me that a significant portion of the Centers that were in PI are now back in the US?
