Adding ported second att phone line to E Sim on iPhone 11 Pro Max

I have a second pone number on my landline that I would like to port to the e sim on my iPhone 11 pro max.  I contacted ATT and they stated I could not add just a "phone line" , since I dont need internet.  They also said that I would have to upgrade all of my 4 wireless lines from my Unlimited Elite services, to whatever they offer now.

So my question is: Can I add another brand name service to the e sim and have 2 different service providers on the one phone?

Thanks

Ignore that info.

AT&T does not have any service plans that our voice only. All plans include talk text and data.

You can add a starter line, which would add another line to your existing account and reduce the average price of all of your lines.

You do not have to give up your elite plan. Especially if you are holding on to it because you have HBO Max

If you do not have Max, you can change to the newer plan. I believe they raise the price on the old plan.  Your choice.

Adding a starter line as a fourth line is $35.99. If it this is a fifth line it's $30.99.

Adding an additional line also substantially reduces the cost of all of your lines (price increase is probably about $15 plus taxes)

Okay just want to make sure you understand the point. You can use your current phone, and you can port the phone number to a cheap provider like red pocket and use the SIM in your current phone. Not a problem.

If you ever upgrade the phone with installments, you won't be able to do that anymore

Thanks for your response, since I am not really going to use this a lot, I am interested in transferring it to another carrier that is only 20 bucks a month.  (But I will look at the plans)

Since posting this, I have found that it is possible to have 2 carriers on the phone.  Do I need to call ATT to get the "pin" that I will need to port the number?  or is there a website to auto get it?

Thanks

Okay now this gets more complicated. Right now you could port that landline to a cheap carrier like red pocket which has a plan for $5 a month or $60 for the year that's talk text and half a gig of data. It would work currently on your current iPhone 11 because the phone is paid off.

So here's the wrinkle, in October of 2022 AT&T started enforcing its unpaid device policy. The unpaid device policy prevents a phone that is under installments from being used on another account.   This means if you have an AT&T financed phone, you can't use the ESIM with AT&T prepaid, or an AT&T MVNO. And because it's locked it won't work on a different service provider.

If you purchase your phones unlocked from Apple every year it won't be a problem.

The why?...  This was done to prevent fraud.   Like purchasing a phone under a deal, and then reselling the phone to someone else.  If the intention is to commit fraud, they often default on the entire account immediately. This means AT&T blacklists the phone for fraud and the third party suffers the consequences.

You can only add another provider if the phone is unlocked. You should only need account number and account info to port landline to cell phone.
