BLACK SCREEN LOADING GOOGLE MAPS ON ALCATEL SMART FLIP

I have an Alcatel Smartflip that AT&T sent me to replace my old phone with the 3g upgrade.  My google maps always loaded by pressing the left key and going to the map icon.  I am now getting a black screen.  I reached out to Technical support and they were no help and were doing an escalation that will take at least two days.  Andy the rep who trying to assist me kept giving info for computer and/or msart phones.  In fact for my phone he read only how to access maps.  Anyone have any recommendations?  I use the maps on a regular basis.  Ineed a phone with a raised keypad and not a smart phone.  HELP!

Make sure your phone has had all of its updates. Clear cache in the Google Play store. And in the maps application. Restart your phone

Hello, as I indicated, I have an Alcatel Smartflip, it came preloaded with the Google maps.  The rep, like you kept thinking I had a smartphone, and was giving me directions, that was not applicable for my phone.

Let's go through the steps once more:

1. ACCESS GOOGLE MAPS: From the home screen, press the left button to access app shortcuts, then press the OK button to select Google Maps.

2. SEARCH FOR AND VIEW A LOCATION: From the Google Maps menu, press the navigational buttons to highlight Search then press the OK button to select.

3. Use the keypad to enter the desired location, then press the down button to highlight the desired option. Press the OK button to select.

4. GET TURN BY TURN DIRECTIONS: From the location screen, press the right menu button to select Directions to get directions to the location. 

5. Use the keypad to enter the desired starting point, or press the down button to highlight the desired option and press the OK button to select. 

6. Press the up or down button to highlight the desired option, then press the OK button to select. 

7. To view the directions, press the left menu button to select Preview. Press the right menu button to select Next to scroll through the directions.

I AM NOT STUPID!! I HAVE USED MY GOOGLE MAPS REGULARLY.  I NEEDED TO GET DIRECTIONS FOR TRAVELING TODAY.  YESTERDAY WHEN I WENT TO MY MAPS, ALL I GOT WAS A BLACK SCREEN.  THAT IS MY ISSUE IT IS NOT LOADING!!! THAT WAS WHEN I REACHED OUT TO SUPPORT VIA CHAT.  THEY HAVE PUT IN AN ESCALATION SUPPORT REQUEST BUT THAT COULD TAKE AT LEAST TWO DAYS WHICH DOES ME NO GOOD FOR TRAVELING TODAY.

I CAME OUT HERE BECAUSE THE REP DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY CLUE ON MY PHONE AND WAS HOPING TO HAVE THIS RESOLVED.  AS OF NOW I HAVE NO WAY TO HAVE DETAILED DIRECTIONS WHILE TRAVELING TODAY.  I HAVE MY STATE MAP BUT... I AM PAYING ATT EACH MONTH, THE FEATURES ON MY PHONE SHOULD WORK.  IT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT WE CAN'T USE OUR CONTACTS BECAUSE AT&T TOOK AWAY 4G SIM CARDS AND WE CAN'T GET ONE.  THE STORE TOOK OUT SIM CARD AND PUT IN A 5G SIM CARD AND WOULD NOT PUT 4G BACK IN BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE US THAT THE 5G SIM CARD WOULD NOT WORK.  THEN YOU COULD NO LONGER MAKE PHONE CALLS USING GOOGLE AND THERE IS NO WAY TO USE VOICE COMMANDS LIKE YOU COULD WITH OUR OLD 3G PHONES, TO NOW LOSE MAPS AND HAVE TO WAIT.. 

SORRY, AT&T ALSO DELETED MY MOM'S VOICE GREETING WHEN THEY PROMISED IT WOULD NOT GET DELETED.  THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT HAS DECLINED OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS.  I HAVE BEEN USING AT&T SINCE IT WAS CINGULAR.  IF I COULD FIND A SYSTEM WITH PHONE WITH A KEYPAD AND WIRELESS HOME PHONES, MY 2G AND 3G PHONES WORKED SO MUCH BETTER!!!.  I HAD A PANTECH BREEZE THAT WE GOT FOR MY DAD WHO HAD HAND TREMORS AND THEN YOU HAD US UPGRADE TO A LG PHONE AND I LOST SOME OF THE FEATURES OF THE PANTECH BREEZE.  ALTHOUGH THIS PHONE DIDN'T HAVE VOICE COMMAND LIKE MY LG PHONE, IT WAS TO HAVE FEATURES THE LG PHONE DID NOT.  MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE ALCATEL SMARTFLIP IS STILL BEING ADVERTISED AS SUCH WHICH IS VERY DISHEARTENING IF IT NO LONGER HAS THESE FEATURES.  

AT&T NEEDS TO EITHER ON THEIR OWN OR WITH SOMEONE CREATE A FUNCTIONAL PHONE WITH A RAISED KEYPAD, THAT HAS EITHER VOICE COMMANDS OR GOOGLE/ALEXA TYPE ASSISTANT, PRE-LOADED APPS TO BE USED LIKE GOOGLE MAPS, YOU TUBE, BUT ALSO CAN BE DOWNLOADED LIKE WEATHER. WITH THE SMARTFLIP I CAN ADD LINKS LIKE APPS TO ACCESS SITES LIKE MY AOL EMAIL, BIBLE ETC.

ALSO TO COME WITH FEATURES LIKE MAGNIFIER, FLASHLIGHT, AND SOS.

THIS DIDN'T ADDRESS MY ISSUE AND WHAT DOES INDOOR AND WI-FI HAVE TO DO WIHT MY ALCATEL SMARTFLIP????  

SO I AM STILL NOWHERE!!! I REPLIED TO THE EMAIL AND GOT A RESPONSE SAYING THAT WAS A NOTIFICATION ONLY EMAIL.......IT DIDN'T SAY THAT ANYWHERE IN THE ABOVE MSG TO ME.
