Can't get the PUK code from my ATT

One of our phone shows the SIM Locked message and we need to PUK code.

I followed the steps on teh solution on this forum (https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1011771/) but:

 - there is no Get your PIN unlock key (PUK) but just a Unlock your phone option

 - when I click on Unlock your phone, I get a message that it is not possible to unlock because I am on an installment plan

How do I get the phone unlocked so I can use it to make calls during the 13 months left on the installment plan?

We'll be happy to clarify what's happening with your PUK code @GregFromAustin.

You are currently not eligible to unlock your phone because you are on an installment plan; this is also why you don't see the PUK. If you pay off the installment plan and meet the other criteria, you can submit a request to unlock the device.

Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding this matter. Thank you for reaching out to our AT&T Community.

So i can’t use it as a phone anymore? In other words, i will pay for a line that i cannot use and AT&T is feeling good about it…

The SIM code feature worked as expected (someone got a hold of the phone and tried to use it but because we used this security feature they gave up and returned the phone). And now we are penalized for it. It would have been a better deal for us to let them steal the phone and use insurance.

Is it where we really are?

your puk code is in your online account login to your account and its in there.

@Constructive And where would that be? I went through my account many times... Manage Device, options and so on and I obviously missed it.

It would be constructive to be a little more specific and point to where this would be

Obviously, the posts you mention only apply to people who don't have installment plan.

Hi GregFromAustin! We are here to help with your SIM lock inquiry!

Check out how to unlock your SIM Card by getting a PIN code for your SIM lock. If you are still encountering a hiccup, we recommend signing in your account and getting a PIN/PUK code under 'my device is asking for a PIN or a PUK Code.'

Let us know if you're using an AT&T SIM Card alongside with your AT&T device, as your SIM card may be locked when you try to use a non AT&T SIM Card on a locked device.

Reach back out to us if you have additional questions! Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Rhoda,

Thank you for your reply.

This is exactly the process I was trying to follow, but as mentioned in my first post, there is no "Get your PIN unlock key (PUK)" option (according to the first answer to that thread, it is because I am on an installment plan).

So I am still stuck...
