Checking voicemail from a landline

Since the most recent update, I have been unable to check my voicemails from a landline phone. This is very important since I work in a secured facility that does not allow cell phones. Before the update, I was able to dial my cell number, push * when voicemail recording began and then put in my passcode to listen to voicemails. I have tried several times over the past few days on several different landlines and used the same process. My voicemail recording is different, and nothing is happening when I push * or #. Is there a setting that I need to change for this to work?

Hi @jhgantt,

Thank you for reaching out to us! We understand that you're facing difficulties checking voicemail from your landline, and we're happy to assist you.

We recommend that you try resetting Unified Messaging PIN or Web password or try changing your Unified Messaging voicemail PIN or web password.

From your home phone:

  1. Dial *98 from your home or dial your telephone number, then press the * key when you hear the greeting.
  2. Enter your PIN and press #.
  3. Press 4 to change your mailbox settings.
  4. Press 2 to change administrative options.
  5. Press 1 for security.
  6. Press 1 to change PIN and follow the prompts.

From a computer:

  1. Go to http://sm.att.com/4bc4707f and sign in using your Unified Messaging email address and password.
  2. Select Settings at the top of the page.
  3. Under Security Settings, select Change PIN for Telephone.

After resetting, please try checking the voicemail, and let us know how it goes.

For further assistance, we are always here to help!

I changed my password as directed above and I am still unable to check my voicemail from a landline phone. I am dialing my cell number from the landline and pressing the * key, as I have been doing for the past several years. The recording just keeps going like I have not even pressed a button. I only have the option to leave a voicemail.

Maybe I wasn't exactly clear on what the problem is.

I do not have a home phone. I only need to check my cell phone voicemails. I need to be able to check them from my work phone, which is a landline. I am unable to take my cell phone inside of my workplace for security reasons.

I have ALWAYS been able to call my cell phone number from my landline work phone and when the recording picks up, I press * and enter my password and I am able to listen to any voicemails that have been left. Since the update, I have not been able to do this. When I dial my cell number from my work phone, I get the recording and press * and it does nothing. I am unable to listen to any voicemails that have been left on my cell phone.

Was this ever resolved. I have the same issue and this seems to be a new feature.  AT&T has a history of assuming you take your phone everywhere and always have it available..  like not being able to sign into their website without your phone by your side.

No, it was not resolved. The Att assistant was of no assistance to me
