Mobile data quick setting tile missing on Samsung GS4 and GS5

The Mobile data quick setting tile on the "Notification panel quick settings" has been missing for the past
few OS releases. Verizon and T-Mobile do still have this tile so it is an AT&T specific thing. This was not a
big deal in the past because there were Mobile data "enable" widgets available in the Play store that took
advantage of an "exploit" in the OS so one could easily turn on or off their mobile data with one touch. Unfortunatly, Google
plugged this OS hole in Lollipop (5.0+). Now you have to do 6 touch strokes to do this function. THIS SUCKS!
AT&T really needs to put this tile back into the OS. Granted is is not as good as the one touch widget but a two
touch quick setting tile would be fine.
Can someone at AT&T make this happen? If so when will we see it?
Thanks

Hi there @ncbeeman

I can confirm that this quick tile does indeed appear to be missing. What I would recommend in its place would be to use the “Settings Shortcut” widget to add an icon to your home screen that you can set to go directly to the Data Usage settings and turn off data quickly! I will look into this concern to check if this is something we can help bring back.

Thanks,

Charise,

Thank you for trying to bring back the tile! As I mentioned in my post, The "Settings Shortcut" widgets that are available work as an "exploit". In other words they take advantage of a security hole in the Android OS. Google has closed this hole in Lollipop 5.0+. These Widgets no longer work. I only know of one Widget that may work however you have to root your phone. If you root your phone, you can add the Mobile Data tile back yourself. Most users are not willing or not techy enough to do that. Do you know of a Widget that works for Lollipop 5.0+ that does not require root?? Please let us know if there is one. That would solve the problem.

If AT&T could put the tile back as part of the next release, it would be very helpful. I am not sure why it was taken away to begin with. Most other carriers still have it on their Android phones.

Thanks again,

ncbeeman
