Problem with communication abroad

I need to go to Russia for a period of 4 months. I told about this in the communication salon. But the connection stopped working after crossing the border (no network signal). I cannot receive SMS messages and therefore I cannot log into my personal account.
My friends came to the salon to find out the reason, but they were denied information.
How should I deal with this situation? I can only keep communication by mail [email scrubbed].

I can't make phone calls because the phone doesn't receive a network signal in Russia.

At&t has all information on its website.  You just have to look or Google search.

And as always, prepaid services do not work unless you pay to use it.

Your domestic plan does not include roaming and long distance.

Those are an add-on service

prepaid roaming is limited to these countries

https://www.att.com/prepaid/static-pages/intl-travel-add-on/

The $35 add-on gets you one week of service, 7 days, with 5 GB of data, unlimited talk and text.

An it is not included in that list. Does not have any roaming capability.  WiFi call & text works in Russia with a compatible phone

The following countries are not permitted to use Wi-Fi calling.

Together for

China, Saudi Arabia, India, Turkey, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Pakistan, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.

I’m guessing you don’t have an unlocked phone so you can use a local (Russian) SIM, so the only way you’re going to get a signal in Russia with your AT&T SIM is if you can roam.  You’ll need to get the International Day Pass activated for your postpaid account.

https://www.att.com/international/day-pass/

If you have prepaid, you’re out of luck because prepaid can’t roam in Russia.

Communication salon?  🤔

If your phone is capable of Wi-Fi calling, that may be the only way you can receive and send text messages.

Thank you!

You helped me!  I have prepaid, but why didn’t the salon staff tell you about this...
I was not issued a postpaid tariff because I didn't receiv a physical Green Card at the moment.
