same service?
I am paying for one of 5 cell lines as follows:
Protect Advantage Insurance for 1 $8.99
Protect Advantage Support Services for 1 $7.01
What kind of benefits do they give? I read in the forum that Protect Advantage Support Services will replace the phone in the event of theft or damage.
so I wonder if paying to also have advantage insurance is not useless? I feel like I'm paying twice for the same type of service.

You have it backwards. The 8.99 is your insurance. Covers lost theft and damage or out of warranty replacement.
The additional $7.01 is ProTech support, backup services etc.

AT&T only allows the basic insurance of 899 on prepaid plans. Postpaid is not given the option to just choose insurance.
If you're not happy with the price, which is probably half what you're paying on your phone, you can cancel it.
You may avail yourself of the option to purchase separate insurance with a third-party provider outside of your service provider, with the manufacturer, or maybe even your credit card company is up to you.
I don't find Asurion to be a good deal for what it does. I think it's expensive. If you need full replacement the deductibles are up to $300, and you get a refurbished phone.
