Unlock request denied, paid in full from seller off craigslist

I bought a phone from someone online so I could use it when I go to Iran in a few days and when I tried using it it said that I needed an unlock code. I put in the request online and it was denied so I called customer service and they said they can't unlock it unless I use it for 6 months. I explained that I bought it from someone on Craigslist and I can't return it And I'm leaving the country and they wouldn't help me and eventually hung up on me!!

I called back and spoke with someone and explained that I got hung up on and the other problem and they started to help me get it unlocked and we got disconnected and I wasn't able to get that person back on the phone and nobody will help me.

PLEASE SOMEBODY help me out to figure this problem out. I'm leaving soon and I'm out $100+ and I can't return the phone or get ahold of the seller and couldn't return it anyways. I'm stuck and need help and this is my only option.

Hello @ShadZani,

Welcome to the Community Forums.  I can understand how important it is to get your device unlocked.  I would be happy to go over our eligibility requirements.

  • The device must meet the following requirements to unlock AT&T devices.
  • Your device isn’t reported lost or stolen, or involved with fraud.
  • You must complete your contract or installment plan (including early termination fees). Or, pay off an installment plan early and then make another unlock request in 24 hours.
  • Your device isn’t active on another AT&T account.
  • If you upgraded early, wait 14 days to unlock your old device. Business customers wait 30 days.
  • Your service must be active for at least 60 days with no past due or unpaid balance.
  • AT&T PREPAID℠ (formerly GoPhone®) devices must have at least 6 months of active service.
  • If you’re military, we’ll ask you to email your TCS or PCS (Temporary / permanent change of station) documents for eligibility. You won’t have to complete installment plans or contracts.
  • If you have a business-owned device, your company must authorize you to unlock it.

I would be happy to check the IMEI of the phone for eligibility.  Please send us a private message to @ATTCares with your full name, contact number, and IMEI of the device.

I look forward to hearing from you, and please have a great day.
