Go Phone 1,000 Messaging Package Auto Renewal

Under Packages, Messaging, only the $4.99 200 messaging package shows up as an auto renew option. Why is the $9.99 1000 messaging package not available for auto renew? I think I get the auto renew option if I do a purchase of the 1000 messaging package. It should be available to add at anytime, not just at the time of a purchase.

Hi there! @richmke Thanks for posting your concerns. I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with this.

Please keep in mind, If you renew before the package expires, any messages remaining in your current package will roll over to the new package expiration date. To set up Auto Renew for your package, dial 611 (800.901.9878 from a landline) and say "Features" or go to att.com/mygophone sign in and click on Automatic Feature Package Renewal.

If you have a 200 or 1000 messaging package, messages over the applicable package allotment (i.e., 200 or 1000) will be charged at the pay per use rate of $0.20 per message sent or received, and Picture/Video messages will be charged at the pay per use rate of $0.25 per message sent or received.

Hope this helps!

Nope.

The problem is auto renewal options with your system. I know how to manually renew.

Before your system change, all renewal options were offered. With your system upgrade a few months ago (year ago?), only the most recent purchased option shows up as an auto renewal option.

No reason not to offer all the messaging options as an auto renewal option.

I have/had the 200 message plan that was auto renew monthly.  What they fail to tell you is that there is a maximum limit.  I had 8,900 message units from months of renewals and little usage. I thought nothing of it as long as I kept the account active with the monthly renewal.  First, AT&T texted that they would be doing an autorenewal, as usual, then a few days later I found that the renewal was unsuccessful.  I called as directed by the text to find out why.  Well, renweing would have put me over the 9,000 maximum limit and so their solution was to inactivte my message account, and all of my 8,900 units were taken away due to the inactivation. I argued for 50 minutes to a representative about how ridiculous this was and how AT&T essentially stole about $200 from me by taking away those units. I am still waiting to see how they resolve this issue.  In addition, I found out that there is also a limit of $500 that you may have on a Go Phone account.  If you go over that $500 limit, then the account will not extend, and thereby be inactivated and you lose your account. This is nonsense.  It is my money that I give and they take.  What business is it of theirs how I spend my money or if I use the phone service or features I pay for. It just makes no sense.  I hope that someone from AT&T sees this and responds.  I am kdp123
