Stop paying prepaid for travel overseas

Hello!
I am traveling overseas for a few months and was wondering if there is a way I don't have to pay for the months I will not be in the US.
I am using AT&T prepaid plan and it is as following: Account Balance: $0.00
Balance Expires On: Feb 4, 2017
Rate Plan: $45 Monthly
Rate Plan Renews On: Dec 8, 2016

Here are my questions:
1. How many months can I keep the number alive (not permanently expire) without paying the bill every month?
2. My account says that the balance expires on Feb 4- does this mean that I can keep the number until then without paying the monthly bill?
3. What is a way I can keep my number alive (not permanently expire) without having to change my plan or paying every month?

4. If I only refill $10 instead of $45 on Dec 8, how long would that keep my service active (like, how long after the 8th could I make phone calls and use data, etc.)?

I appreciate all the help! Thank you!

Hello @hyeinyang12!

Awesome questions! Traveling overseas sounds fun and I totally understand not wanting to have to pay for a service you will not be using! I will be happy to help!

Your phone number will remain active until you have not refilled the account 60 days after the account balance expiration date. Account balances expire as follows: $10-$24 refills expire in 30 days, $25 to $99 in 90 days, $100 or more in 365 days.

My recommendation is to add to the account when your current balance expires, in the amount of time that you will still be traveling (so that it does not expire).

If you currently have your account on AutoPay, you will want to cancel that so you don’t get charged every month. Take a look at our support article for managing GoPhone AutoPay for specific instructions.

Hope this information helps! Let us know if you have any other questions at all. Safe travels!
