Will I get the prepaid service charge refunded if I never activate the prepaid sim card?

If I order a device online and pay the initial month's prepaid service, will I get that service charge refunded if I return the sim card without activating it?

Essentially I was going to buy the Moto One 5G Ace now that it is on sale for $129.99 and use it on my postpaid AT&T account.  I contacted customer service/sales to see if I could buy the phone on sale, and never utilize the prepaid service.  They indicated that I would be refunded for the initial month prepaid charge if I never activated the SIM card...  However, she was unable to provide me any concrete documentation on that particular refund policy.  Ultimately the extra $65 for the one month of prepaid service I would not use made buying that particular phone no longer worthwhile to me, as better options exist for $230 - $300, and they will have security updates supported for longer than the Moto.    Thanks for clearing it up!
