ATT Cell not working in whole neighborhood and 2 mile radius. Cannot get support to realize there's a tower issue

My whole neighborhood has been unable to use our AT&T cell phones for data (doesn't work at all), and voice (barely works) for a few weeks now. I turned in a support request via phone a few weeks ago, and have had no response.

This is not an issue with my cell phone, my plan, or any of my neighbors phones or plans. The tower is not working properly, and I cannot get attention from anyone to give us a status update. The cell connection has been unusable for around a month now in an area that's around 2 miles in radius.

How can I actually reach someone who can help and put in a ticket to have someone look into what's going on?

We definitely understand your concerns and know how important it is to have good cellular coverage, @nullvector.

In order for us to assist you further, we'll need the city and zip code of the area you're experiencing the poor cellular connections. This will allow us to check the towers in that area to determine the cause and the expected restoral date.

Feel free to reach back out to us to confirm that information, and thanks for contacting the AT&T Community Forums for help.

Thanks Lynn,

After my 3rd conversation with a support agent, I called the local AT&T store and the manager told me that he also has submitted a support ticket on behalf of other customers in our area having no service.

My city is Orlando, Florida. Zip: 32832

Tech support assures me that "everything is OK!" but I have quite a few people in this area who would say otherwise, including my wife who's on a separate account, and neighbors who've reported the issue in our neighborhood Facebook pages.

There's no cell service for about a 2 mile radius here in the Moss Park area of Orlando. Bars will show up on the phones, but there's no data accessible, and every call you make will fail. If someone tries to call you while you are in that area, the phone will go right to voicemail.

Thanks.

Hello there @nullvector, we understand the impact this has caused with you and your neighbors having trouble connecting to or using cellular data.

Thank you for providing your zipcode, as we were able to locate the outages that were reported in the area. There would be a degraded tower in the area that started 9/15/22 with a restoral date of 9/19/22 at 3:56pm.

You can find outage information here and this will have additional links for outages. Please visit our Troubleshooting & Resolve Tool. Here, you choose Wireless > then choose the appropriate topic. You can follow this troubleshooting flow to determine the best resolution for your issue! If it is an Internet concern, you are able to troubleshoot from there as well.

Check out our tutorial on Device Support > Learn how to use > Connectivity > Signal & Cellular Data to view cellular network signal, turn cellular data connection, international roaming, and mobile data connection on or off.

Access cellular data
  1. Swipe down from the Notification bar, then select the Settings icon.
  2. Select Connections, then select Mobile networks.
  3. Select the Mobile Data switch.
  4. Turn International Data on or off.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

Hello,

That information is unhelpful. The outage still does not show up for my address or zipcode. I have received the following all weekend:

All clear! No outages to report.
We didn’t find any wireless issues in your area.
The phone still doesn't work for data. I get absolutely nothing data-wise when connected to this area's tower. When I drive 2 miles away it starts working again.
This outage has been reported by me to 3 technicians on the phone (first reported 2 weeks+ ago), and the local ATT store manager has also reported the outage on behalf of other customers.
Please update.

Hey there, ! Let's meet in a Direct Message (DM) to discuss your device's experience with data coverage in your area.

Please check your Direct Message Inbox for a message being sent to you. Look for the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.

Meanwhile, you can check the network coverage in your area by visiting our Network Coverage Viewer. This map provides a high-level approximation of wireless coverage across the nation.

Trends with the network, including dropped calls, failed call attempts, and poor call quality can occur for a number of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Gaps in network coverage.
  • A geographic obstruction, such as a mountain.
  • A type of building construction.

To minimize poor connectivity experiences, we constantly monitor and optimize our network to deliver the best possible wireless service.

Don't forget to meet us in the DM. Your area may be undergoing network maintenance for system improvement or enhancement. We want to see if that is the case and get you a definite resolution to your experience.

Hello,

I tried the chat, I did not get an answer.

Cell phone is still not working in this area. It is past the restoral date listed above in this thread and still can't get a reliable call out. I am only able to use WiFi calling.

My wife is also unable to use her phone either, whenever she's within a 2 mile radius of our home.

FYI, our neighborhood shows on the "5G" coverage in one of the maps that were linked above.

Cell phones in this area still do not work. We are 3+ weeks from when it stopped working for many of us in the neighborhood and we've had no improvement in service.

Can AT&T support check the towers in this area:

Aldie, VA

20105

Specifically the Stone Ridge neighborhood.  Mineral Springs & Sweetspire.  Mineral Springs & Greenstone.

I have lived here for 2 years; service has always been poor. It is a densely populated area.  The coverage is very weak, 1-2 bars, and data throughput is poor.  Uber drivers even have trouble getting their app to work.

I can't find anything on AT&T's site to report poor signal.  Why'd they get rid of the Mark the Spot app?

Thanks

Same here, poor signal quality, to receive a call i need to get out my house and drive for 5 minutes to have a decent quality and receive a call.

I can't understand why you guys don't put more antennas here in 34787 area.

Thanks
