AT&T Signal Strength - weak signal in my home

I have a cellular signal issue in my home with only 1 or 2 bars of signal strength on AT&T. I have always had the same issue in the area for years and with Verizon and AT&T. Zip code 74105. It appears the residential area here has a marginal signal according to any signal maps I have looked at. Any suggestions for improving the signal ? I am currently running an iPhone 13 pro. Would a 14 pro help the signal strength?

We understand how important it is to be able to have great service reception in your area, @lturner60.

We did take a look at the coverage in your area using the ZIP code you provided. Although there are some good-looking towers in the area, there is one tower that has an outage. Start date was  9/19/22 and the restoral date is 10/5/22. This may be affecting your signal.

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting tips you can try on your iPhone 13 Pro.

  • Power cycle/restart your device: Simultaneously press and hold the Side button and the Volume up or down button until the slider appears, then select and drag the Power icon to the right.
  • Perform a soft reset: If a power cycle/restart does not resolve your issue, perform a soft reset. Press and quickly release the Volume up button > press and quickly release the Volume down button > press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

You can also visit our Wireless Support page to Refresh your Connection. You can use this same page for step-by-step troubleshooting. Scroll down to Fix My Wireless > Connection > Internet > follow the prompts.

Upgrading to an iPhone 14 Pro will not provide better signal strength, however you may want to look into getting a Cell Booster. The AT&T Cell Booster is a mini cell tower designed to provide better indoor coverage utilizing your broadband internet. It creates a 4G LTE cell signal that results in better indoor coverage, more reliable voice calling and texting, and more consistent data speeds.

Try this and let us know how it goes!

Any idea who to contact at ATT to try and get them to improve signal strength in an area?  We are in a suburban area of SE Palm Beach county with about 2700 homes in zip code 33473.  At best, outdoor signal strength is 1 (yes, only one) bar.  This is a relatively new area which is growing rapidly.

@hshlevin  Increasing cellular signal strength and directionality is up to the FCC, not AT&T or any carrier. The carriers can petition for upgrading their cellular signal but there is a ton of regulatory paperwork to file, which can take years. And, if the towers are shared with other carriers, like most of them are, the other carriers have to agree as well. Virtually none of the carriers own their own towers but "rent" space on them.

Being as you live in relatively new area (whatever relatively means) there may already be plans in place to increase the coverage area. But AT&T will not divulge any of those plans to the public.

In the meantime, you can use WiFi-C (WiFi Calling), if your phone is capable, for increasing your in-home reception or you can purchase AT&T's Cell Booster (which is not a cellular booster but a femtocell), which I don't really recommend now, or you can purchase an actual cellular booster.

Read my AT&T Cell Booster Tech Guide concerning AT&T's poorly named femtocell, which is the first link in my sig line or to get a primer on cellular boosters, read my Cellular Booster Guide which is the second link in my sig line.

Keep in mind that AT&T is shutting down these public forums on June 27th so the links to my guides will go away, as well as all of the help that we ACEs have provided over the  years. You will have to deal directly with AT&T Support from that point on. Good luck.
