Horrible Service and want to switch back to Verizon

About 5 months ago, I made the biggest mistake by switch celluar carriers from Verizon to AT&T. I was able to get new phones and was supposed to save on my monthly bill, based on what was put in front of me, but that was not the case. With the new phones, came a new installment plan for 36 months for 4 lines and my bill was now higher then switching. I am at the point where after being so frustrated, I want to go back to Verizon, but I don't want to eat the cost of paying for the devices in full or early termination fees, due to a lack of service that was supposed to be provided. I will gladly return the 4 iPhones that are less than 6 months old and port my numbers back, for a resonable cost. If I have to stuck with AT&T for another 32 months because of a bogus offering or "special deal" then I will file a formal complaint with the BBB.

You have 14 days to return the phones. Your option is to pay off the devices and change to a provider that suits your needs.

The payoff for the 4 iPhones I have is $3000. If I would of known of the service issues within 14 days, I would of returned the phones. There has to be another option.

Read your terms of service. All prices are posted online and that is what is honored. They do not want your used equipment. They can’t do anything with it.

My “used equipment” was provided by AT&T as part of a promotion and can be marked as “certified pre-owned” so that can make more money on the equipment and not take a loss. Thanks for you feedback.

I was only trying to see what I had to do in order the switch back, and the answer provided was what I knew, but I was hopeful that there was an alternative.

It’s just bother some to me that there are cellular service issues that make customers regret making the change.

There is no other answer.  There is a 14 day return period.  After that, you’re stuck with the phones, as well as the bill for them.

So somewhere between the time the return window ended at 14 days, and now 5 months later, you suddenly became so unhappy with service that you want to switch back to Verizon?

Why?

Why not take advantage of the test option that all three networks provide for free?

Or maybe only switch one phone over and try out the service everywhere to make sure it works adequately? (which is what I did in 2014)

If it's been more than 3 months since your switch why are you not getting bill credits on promotional phone deals?   Didn't you participate in any of the promotional deals which would have reduced or eliminated the cost of phones?  If not, why?

It's the only reason anyone switches service providers, to get free or deep discounted phones as well as a better price on the service?

As for other options, no why should AT&T, or Verizon, or T-Mobile offer you a different option when you signed an agreement for this one.

Selecting a cellular service provider is entirely on us customers. It's up to us to do a little research, and due diligence to make sure that our selection is going to work for us. And if it doesn't - take advantage of the return windows.

SAME here!!!  Was sold a line of crap.  NOW frustrated beyond words....my special deal was no activation fees and "free" iphone 15 -- they have lost my trade in....and then the two iphone 14s  were "nearly free and only $3 a month"  BUT bill is stating different.  I changed internet providers due to AT&T laying fiber in my neighborhood.  I thought ok, let's try fiber in lieu of Spectrum.  Well that blew up when I decided to got with AT&T on my wireless.  And the girl drug it out past the 14 day window stating oh it's being worked.

LESSON LEARNED for real!  I will definitely be moving back to Verizon.  Calling them to see if they are willing to work with me.  I was a loyal customer with Verizon until relocation....then bad on me thinking internet and wireless with same carrier would be the best thing.  I'M OVER AT&T.

🤣

Kickback?   Where's my kickback?

It's actually illegal for a service provider to give kickbacks to volunteers who participate in community forums like this.  They are allowed to give us a non-cash promotional gift, totaling no more than $100 per year.  I have a $5 gray umbrella with AT&T  emblazoned on it.  That is hardly enough for me to misrepresent what is published on AT&T's website for anyone who is the least bit literate to manage to read for themselves without any assistance from me at all. What is a pity is that I have to sit in my living room, trying to enjoy retirement, but posting links to stuff that you could have looked up on your own before signing up with AT&T.   I did it when I switched to AT&T and I did the same when I switched back to Verizon.

I am a more educated consumer than most. I know that you should read the website and that all the deals are published somewhere on the website. I also know enough to deal with a corporate store not with a third party representative.

FYI the the no trade-in required iPhone 14 deal is published on AT&T's website. Very clearly states that the bill credits start within 3 months to offset the installments over 36 months.  Exactly the same way Verizon does it.

If you want to keep deflecting, go ahead but it doesn't help you. Read your bill for accuracy and compare it against what you were offered and what's on the website.

I got screwed by AT&T, also. In Nov 2023, the Costco warehouse black Friday deal offered was four (4) lines for $112 and $45 for insurance, but what they lied about was it required autopay with a debit card. No way in (Edited per community guidelines) I'm giving them access to my bank account. I used a credit card for autopay and was billed $180 for 4 lines plus $50 for insurance. It's been a nightmare to get anyone to fix it, and I even went back to Costco, where the current deal is only $134 for 4 lines.  AT&T billing issues are a nightmare. I would warn everyone to read all the fine print and don't listen to the kiosk salesperson.  Yes, read the dozens of pages of text they make you sign and ensure you are getting the deal they verbally quoted because if you sign their "Sara" system documents, you'll never get it fixed. You'll waste dozens of hours listening to them talk in circles without admitting they know the kiosk people are full of crap.
