No cell service Edwards AFB, CA

I am yet another service member stationed at Edwards AFB, CA who gets no service on the base and poor reception in the surrounding cities.  We have been AT&T customers for over 10 years, but after 6 months of dropped calls, no network, and no signal at the base and dropped calls and low signal in Lancaster/Palmdale we are considering switching to Verizon.  We have been told the same story about a new tower being installed which I found was being told to customers back in 2012 who suffered with the same poor quality coverage.  Moreover, we were simply told at the local story to just deal with it as there is no fix.  I can't justify spending over $270 a month for poor service and useless phone coverage.  Are there any actual plans to address the spotty service? Are there any work-arounds which may address the issue? Finally, if there is no solution, what is the process to terminate/transfer service?

I have been having the same exact issues for over 30 years and my phone bill was always $500 a month I think they quit building towers and just don't care they rely on wifi calling now because it can be free for them but that won't work in rural areas and when you tell them that they are like so what but yet they want your $500 a month not on my watch

@bradl1982 I have to disagree with that. I live about 2 miles from Scott and I'm on base every day. My coverage at my home is not good, never has been but on base has always been good to great. I've gotten some of the best LTE download speeds on Scott that I've gotten anywhere. Perhaps your phone is the issue.

@dncfinney To terminate your ATT service, just port your number(s) to another carrier. Make sure you get your phone(s) unlocked first, if you intend to use on another carrier.

@h4ck3r101 30 years? Really? Why are you still a customer? If coverage isn't what you need where you need it, you should switch to another provider.
