Postpaid to Prepaid - Getting the run around from ATT

Hello,

I have 3 lines on a Postpaid account, out of contract, unlocked phones etc.

Trying to change phones and am looking at iPhone 6S Prepaid while keeping the same numbers.

Chat online said it can be done and I need to go to the store. Called store for stock and was told that I cannot do this and get the online special price since that is only for new lines. Don't see that requirement anywhere, even online chat rep didn't see that.

Can someone from ATT shed some light on this?

Thanks,

Here is the ad.  https://www.att.com/prepaid/iphone-6s-offer.html?WT.srch=1&source=ECPS0000000PSM00P&kid=kwd-77309506309914:loc-190&cid=272176642

It says right in the headline a new line for the $99.99 price.

You can get it on your current line for $195

I was referring to $195 price that includes $45 account credit. Chat says I can purchase, ATT store (not authorized retail store) says I cannot.

Had no idea about the $99 special that you listed.

Yes you can purchase.  Do not install the included SIM card, swap your own. You may need help applying the $45 card.

Thanks.

Finally talked to another rep in the store and he agrees that I can buy the phone and convert from post-paid to pre-paid.

How can one get the rep to apply the $45 card to a plan? Any pointers?

@nkaufman

Call 611 after you swap over or ask the salesperson when you get your new SIM cards.

Yeah, the sales rep I talked to mentions that this credit is for New Line, not a conversion from post paid to prepaid. Might have to talk to another rep,, grhh..
