PREPAID unlock
Paid for AT&T PREPAID phone and I cancelled service at 5 months, so there for I can not get the phone unlocked regardless?

Nope. Prepaid phones are subsidized. 6 months of prepaid service is required in order to unlock the phone. Restarting service would also restart the clock.

One of the device unlock eligibility requirements for AT&T Prepaid phones with a Prepaid SIM is that the device has had paid service for at least six months. Until this requirement is met, the device cannot be unlocked.
