kkim005,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We can try a couple of troubleshooting steps to see if we can correct this.

Try going to Menu>Settings>More>Application manager>Menu>Reset app preferences.

When you started experiencing this, had you downloaded any files or apps around the same time?  Try booting up the device in Safe Mode - http://bit.ly/1qApOAZ

Tell us if this helps; if it does not you might have to try a factory reset, though we would suggest backing up the device before proceeding with this step since it will erase any data on the device.

Thank you,

Samsung Support ^Kov

I am having the exact same issue with an ATT Samsung S4 about 1.5 years old. I tried all of the above troubleshooting steps (SIM card replacement, factory reset, recent apps, etc.) but the problem still persists.

I contacted Samsumg and they suggested the above items as well. They further stated that I need to send the phone in for repair for a fee since the phone is out of warranty. Samsung also stated that they are unaware of this SIM card issue despite the fact that googling this issue will find this to be a worldwide, widespread issue.

I am dissapointed how Samsung is handling this issue as it seems to be systemic problem with the S4 rather than an isolated incident. I will try to hold-off until my plan expires and then switch to another brand phone. I had been looking forward to getting the S6 when it comes out but I can 't support Samsung with how they are handling this issue.

I have the same issue with my s4. Tried all of the trouble shooting options and have been to the att store. 3 sim cards and a replacement phone (since I was still under warranty) later and back to the att store with same issue with the replacement phone. Another new sim card and 1 day later back to the same error message. Put my sim in my son's old iPhone and no error messages. Obviously it is the type of phone. Though I am still under warranty att will only send me another of the same phone or wants me to buy a new phone to replace their faulty equiptment. Poor service! Very disappointed.

I agree that this is clearly a systemic defect with the S4. Samsung and ATT should take care of their customers and fix this for them. My S4 continues to get worse and is getting close to ununsable. I will NOT buy another Samsung because of their lack of customer support. Samsung will lose a lot of customers over this issue.

This issue is not resolved as indicated earlier in this thread by the Samsung Ambassador.

I am having the same issue with my son's Galaxy S4.  It was replaced under waranty at 8 months of use and now the replacement is doing the same thing after 6 months.  AT&T told me to call Samsung or replace it with my insurance.  Samsung said it is an AT&T issue.  I don't feel that I should pay $150.00 for another device that will likely be defective as well.  Will not be letting my family get any more Samsung devices and am considering going back to US Cellular.  The customer service was better.  I attempted all of the troubleshooting without success and even put my SIM card in the phone and it worked for 45 minutes before it too showed "No SIM card detected."  His SIM card worked just fine in my LG G2.

I am having the same problem with my 1.5 year old S4. I've tried everything I've found here and on other website to no avail. Oddly enough, when we put a Cricket SIM card in, the phone works perfectly. So it can't be the SIM card or reader.

I gave up trying to fix the S4 as it continued to get worse and non-usable. I have recently purchased the LG G3 and will avoid purchasing all Samsung products due to the lack of customer service with this issue.
