Is is possible to update Android 8.1 on Galaxy J3 (2017) (J327A) to Android 9 or higher?

I have a Samsung Phone (model number SAMSUNG-SM-J327A -- a.k.a. Galaxy J3 2017), Baseband version: J327AUCS7BTH1, with Android Version 8.1.0. Is it possible to update this phone to Android 9 or higher? When I go to Settings --> Software update --> Check for updates,  it says that "Current software is up to date", so there seems to be no option here for updating to a more recent Android OS (?)

No. The phone came out with Android 6 and should have been updated twice oh, the first time to Android 7 and the second time to Android 8. After that it gets security patches and other software patches but it does not update to Android 9.

Thanks for the helpful information. I am thinking about upgrading my 2017 Samsung/Android phone (Android 8.1) to an iphone in the not-so-distant future. I'm thinking of bringing my old Samsung/Android phone to an AT&T store (where we bought the phone originally in 2017 and given that we have an AT&T phone/data plan for the phone) and 'trading it in' for a better phone (iphone) with a better OS. Do you know if it would be possible for me to get a discount on a new phone/iphone if I were to bring my old Samsung/Android phone in? Also, would AT&T be able transfer all of the data and apps from my old Samsung/Android phone to a new iphone that I would purchase for me? This might save me the headache/time of trying to do this myself.

Thanks,

- Mark

The 2017 j3 has no significant value for trade in. And it's not on any list for trade in promotions.

AT&T employees are not permitted to do any data transfers between devices. It is up to you to transfer your own data.

They stopped doing data transfers several years ago because of liability issues with lost data.

I already answered this question.  No

AT&T will not transfer your data. You have to do that on your own. You will be asked Once you turn on your new phone if you want to transfer data, and from what type of phone you are transferring Android or an apple.

Android applications will not transfer to an iPhone. You may need to repurchase some applications or a similar application because Apple has its own ecosystem of applications.
