Issue with new Samsung Call and Text on other devices feature

I'm having an issue with this new Samsung feature (Call & text on other devices).

Here is a link to the feature: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00083152/

I have a Samsung Note 10+ and a Samsung Tab S6. Both were purchased from Samsung directly. The Note 10+ is a AT&T variant and the Tab S6 is wifi only.

When I go to "settings" on the Tab S6 and search, I find the option and am able to enable it, however, when I search for the same option on the Note 10+, it's not found. I have attached screenshots from both devices.

I have already contacted Samsung and they said that the option should on the 10+ unless AT&T it blocking it. I'm guessing that perhaps you are blocking it so you can sell your "numbersync" feature but I hope that it not the case. Customers should be fully allowed to exploit the capabilities of the devices that they purchase.

The reason that I did not purchase an "unlocked" phone from Samsung is because the last time I did, "wifi calling" was disabled by AT&T. I was told that customers lose enhanced LTE features and capabilities with unlocked devices.

Please advise  . . .

Yes Att had the feature removed.  Welcome to the carrier meddling in Android.  You don't see it with Apple devices.

Thanks @GLIMMERMAN76

AT&T "if you are listening",  after the two day AT&T internet outage we had in Dallas several months ago, though long time subscriber, I canceled my landline and internet service immediately because:

1. I work from home and had to use my data plan due to loss of internet access. I was not compensated when I was charged for exceeding my data plan.

2. I was only credited $5.00 for being down 2 days which I took as my loyalty being taken for granted.

3. The excuse for the cause of the outage was not acceptable, and I could not afford a reoccurrence due to my job responsibilities. (Who has a SPOF and no DR plan in the 21st century???)

This current incident is the last straw. I have a friend with similar devices and they are working fine using Verizon. I will be cancelling my wireless service and severing my last customer relationship with AT&T, good bye and good riddance.

@Captainturk     I suggest you read the information and you probably don’t want to go to Verizon -  see what circled in red.

I have to wonder if your Internet provider were some other company like Xfinity, would you still be mad at being charged overage on your cellular plan? Most people answer “no because they’re  separate services”. Ta da!    Indeed they are. I’m sure you could’ve made a case to AT&T requesting a one time credit on your data overage. However two days without home Internet is not usually that big a deal for most people, they just cut back and make sure they stay under budget. Also the bulk of current customers have moved to plans which either The plan so there are no overage charges, or they have moved to the unlimited plans.

@GLIMMERMAN76Hi @lizdance40 , thanks for your response, much appreciated.

I sort of alluded to it, but below is a verbatim excerpt of my friends response:

" . . . Verizon has that feature blocked. It's better to get the unlocked Note 10 plus . I have both unlocked Note 10 plus and Tab S6 and it works flawless[sic] . . .

Regarding your question concerning Xfinity and "separate services", my answer is yes. Though AT&T is a multinational conglomerate, with different divisions, entities and separate subsidiaries, there is a still a "customer expectation" of "one company" and one stop shopping.
I know what "great customer service" looks like and what I got from AT&T during that ordeal was far from great.

Lastly, as it pertains to my current wireless plan, it had worked well for my family for years. Changing plans and maintaining a comparable level of service would come with a
substantial price increase. As previously stated, the two day outage was a work related anomaly.

But getting back to my original point and I quote myself, ". . . customers should be fully allowed to exploit the capabilities of the devices that they purchase."
If AT&T offers a competing service, they shouldn't force that option on their customers. I hope this is just a temporary issue that will get addressed in a future software update.

AT&T are you listening . . .

@Captainturk   Be prepared to change in the next 3 years again.  The business model has been evolving rapidly and it’s not stopping.  In the future, more services are going to use data.  Advanced message/RCS uses data.  We are going to see the same uptick in use as between 2013 and 2014.   Us consumers collectively used twice as much data in 2014.  Partly because of more phones/users, but also the new phones were LTE, and big screen, which consumes more data and 3G phones were being retired as users upgraded.  All these nifty user friendly apps use data.

Plan ahead, I already made my move.

At&t please unlock Samsung's call and text on other devices. I just switched over from another carrier but this is making me regret my choice and I will probably switch back

Is it because of the number sync feature they have? And does unlocking my phone allow me to get the Samsung feature?

It's because att made a choice and your seeing it.  Unlocking the phone won't make it work on att.

I do think in a way that number sync is to blame. AT&T likes to keep their special programs to themselves, even if it’s to the detriment of their customers.  Apple is too powerful, and they can’t get away with that.
if only number sync weren’t such a poor product.  Verizon’s message plus, and calls on other devices works quite well, and unlike AT&T it works across platforms.
