Note 4 switching between wifi and 4g

My Note 4 says its connected to wifi but it sometimes says 4g on the top for a few seconds at a time then disappears. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I don't want to be using data when I don't have too.

Hi there! @John_P thanks for posting your concerns. I’m sorry to hear the phone is switching to 4G. This may have to do with the smart network switch.

When the Smart Network Switch feature is enabled on the specified devices, the device may result in an inconsistent Wi-Fi connection

To resolve this issue, Uncheck the Smart Network Switch to disable the feature.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Smart network switch
  2. Remove the mark in the checkbox.

Hope this helps!

I have also experienced this with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, even when the smart network switch feature was turned off.  In my case, I had to reset the device to factory default settings before the 4G symbol would disappear from the screen.  Since then, it has been fine.
