S4 won't restart since update

Hi

My phone was flashing the latest update this morning, and I clicked it. After a while, the update stalled in middle (I think, I wasn't really staring at the screen) and the phone just went blank. Was connected to Wifi all points of time.

I tried restarting a few times then but wouldn't go past the Samsung S4 screen.

Now several hours later I have tried charging to see if it's battery related, going into recovery mode and wiping cache and doing a factory reset from recovery mode but nothing works.

The android icon on the recovery screen shows "dead"/error - if that makes sense - and even after the factory reset and removing/reinserting battery, the phone wont start.

Don't know what to do. Please help!!!

If you have an AT&T store within range, they can often manually flash the new (or previous) firmware onto your device. Hopefully you have a backup. Flashing usually means a full wipe of the data on the phone.

They may redirect you to a service center if one of those is close by too - it should be recoverable, but it's not likely you'll be able to do it yourself (it actually IS possible to do it yourself, but entails much dark magic and invocations of Norse gods.)

I am having this same issue with My GS3, but I dont have service through AT&T. Since this issue was caused by the update that you pushed would I be able to bring my phone in to have it reflashed as well? Or would you be able to provide me with the firmware to do it myself?

Hi teekayz,

Thanks for reaching out. We apologize for the negative experience. We wanted to know if you were able to take the device into a store. If not please let us know and we can attempt the additional steps with you.  Thanks. ^Jake
