Samsung Galaxy S4 network connectivity issues
Hi, my wife and I both have Samsung Galaxy S4s running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat and for the last 2-3 months we've both been having the same issue with dropped cellular reception. This occurs frequently when the phones are changing between 4G and 4GLTE, however what doesn't make sense is that it would do this even if we're stationary in our home. We have had times when we would lose complete coverage for 2-3 minutes several times an hour preventing us from even utilizing emergency call options. Since this is happening on both of our phones is it a service issue with AT&T, an OS issue with Kitkat or something else entirely?

Have you reported the reception issue with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.att.android.markthespot&hl=en
It could be that there is a tower issue near your home.

Unfortunately this happens alot more often when we're out of the home then when we are at home. On my daily commute to work from Northern Virginia to Southern Maryland I'll usually suffer multiple 2-3 minute outages and the only thing I can see changing is the phone transitioning from 4G to 4GLTE or back. I didn't have this problem when I first purchased the phone almost a year ago and my wife recently got her S4 in May of this year.

AT&T just issued an update that is supposed to address connectivity issues, so you might want to install it, if you haven't already.

I installed the recent update and it has not resolved the issue, still dropping cellular connectivity randomly and frequently throughout the day on the move or stationary.
