A solution for us.

My family doesn't watch 10% of what we are paying for and the majority of what we watch is from our Hulu, Amazon, or Netflix accounts, so we are pulling the plug on our $214/month, always rising, Uverse, and going with 100mbps internet and the following.

Slate dot com has calculator that will show your savings.

We will save $1545.24 a year by cutting Uverse TV and going with the Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, Netflix, we already have, and Sling TV.

Use Slate’s calculator to see if dropping cable TV and paying for streaming services will really save you money.

I get the concept of voting with the wallet in theory.

However, be prepared for some issues.

Netflix is,,, eh.  ok, but a lot of old stuff and content comes nad goes at their whim.

Hulu was a irritating disappointment.  Why pay that mnuch for content that still has commercials.

They have more current stuff, but still, commercials and often technical issues.

Amazon prime was a huge joke on the consumer.  Not really even worth discussing credibly.

SlingTV was somehting I thought would hold a lot of promise, but was a horrible horrible experience.  First of all, only one device at a time.  Secondly the commercials often hang and repeated over and over and over.  But the worst was not being able to connect with content when you wanted to watch it.  OMG this was simply a horrible experience.  I strongly suggest you do some research on this option.  Search Twitter re NCAA Final Four and Sling.  That was my last straw.  Fired them and will not miss them at all.

So, maybe someday there will be suitable interent providers, but that day is not now (IMO).

However, in reality, I've still voted with my wallet by NOT BUYING THE CONTENT AT ALL.

We have Local Antenna and Netflix and that's it.

And, the world has not fallen apart like they would like us to believe will happen if we don't surrender our eyeballs, brains, and our wallets to their media conglomerates.
